bad

This is not very nice to read, though I´ve heard about it earlier, from Trent Reznors tweets I think it was or it may have been on the NIN page. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/10/22/politics/main5409256.shtml

This very day it was on the Swedish news, saying there are artists like Britney Spears, Eminem and David Gray also had their music used at Gitmo. Swedish artists want to take action, at least indicate it´s wrong by charging STIM-money, (SwedishComposersInternationalMusicagency), meaning they want to get payed when their music is of official use, thus attract attention to the question an show that they are aware.

...and in the end, the love you take ...

My friend asked me the other day, "Do you truly believe Trent Reznor will ever receive the Pulitzer Prize?" and I think I answered him something like ... "... of course, some time in future, if he keeps on like he did up till now and does things his own way, yes, I think he will."

From The NIN Hotline: (on the 11th of September)

"Last night, in front of a few thousand diehard fans at the Wiltern Theatre in LA, Nine Inch Nails wrapped up their final live show in grand fashion by playing through a blistering 37 song setlist that lasted over three hours. Guests at the show included Mike Garson on the piano, Gary Numan, Atticus Ross, Dave Navarro and The Dillinger Escape Plan. On Twitter, #NIN became the number one trending topic during the evening as thousands, if not almost millions of fans across the world shared their favorite NIN moments over the last 20 years. It was truly a great night to be a NIN fan.

If you were at the show,
ETS's tour journal entry is still wide open and could use all of the memories from those in attendance. Head here and remember, you don't have to be a member of the board to post in the journal. If you weren't at the show, SPIN.com has an article/review of the show along with a few pictures.

Now, the future. There have been various articles around the internet (and hopefully they've all been entered into our archives) where Trent has stated that although he is done touring, this does not mean that he is done making music. If there's a moment in history that this mirrors, it would be The Beatles making the decision to stop playing live. Although the Fab Four finished touring after Revolver was released, they still went on to record classic albums like Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles and Abbey Road among others along with each member expanding and furthering their solo careers.

What am I getting at here? There's still a lot of story to be told in the great big, epic book of Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails. We'll keep everyone updated on what's going to happen next as soon as the news breaks. It's still a great time to be a NIN fan!"

NIN in NYC

Well, quite an interesting review from the NIN show at Bowery Ballroom the other night. This critic seems to be a fan of The Down Ward Spiral as he repeatedly comes back to the uncomfortable feelings of desperation, flawed emotional life and despair, that was Trent Reznors expressions in those days, and which got him into the big crowd arena.

I´m a big fan of Trent Reznor and his music and I´m pretty certain there´s a lot more to it than that, as I´ve listened fiercefully to every song and every piece of music in his repertoire. Here´s the review:

Reznor izz a Twitter Quitter!

.

Hey ya! I just had to write that caption, had to catch the advantage of the occasion when it occured. I read an article, "Trent Reznor is a twitter quitter" and I just distorted the words a little bit and suddenly it became funny to read, and it looks funny too (... as the artist I sometimes claim myself to be would notice). Though the contents of the article isn´t that agreeable to read it still is the painful truth, he did quit twitter, and the reason why he did it .... well, it´s not up to us to have an opinion, we´re not in his position, but it does seem to me like he is a little bit of a softy not being able to handle the situation.

As a celebrity you have to expect there are people doing bad things, saying bad things, they will threat you, whatever. The world is full of crazy people, evil minds, jealous souls, that´s frightful enough to me but it´s a fact, and when you become known as an official person you automatically become a target, in various contexts. I have friends in politics being targeted as well, and that´s not nice at all, that´s even in a smaller community and my friends are actually in within physical reach for the threat.

Now Trent Reznor may be a sensitive personality to some extent, he says he wants to interact with his fans, wants to be fair and decent, but the results to that and the reactions he had, it looks as he wasn´t at all prepared for that. I personally feel it was a lot better before, yes before he became this person mixing his everyday thoughts and feelings into it all. To me he was a musician with integrity, everything that came to our knowledge was carefully worked out and thought through, as it seemed. I interpreted his work as serious and proffesional, not just any crap made to earn money, but work that really ment something to him, an artists work, not something manufactured for a glamorous rockstar. And, I wasn´t really interested in his personal life, I just wanted his music. He is a great businessman, he´s good at that too, everyone was gaining from it, until now.

I would have, and I think most of his fans would, been pleased enough to be informed of his musical thoughts and plans, of course we would want the man to feel happy and have a reasonable good life, but we don´t care so much about girlfriends, and kids, his falling outs, scandals and trials and stuff ... that´s his life and I don´t even fucking know the guy!! I just couldnt care less. Now there are mad and evil women sending verbal attacks onto his girlfriend, and himself, making him leaving Twitter, so he says. That is the price you have to pay, I guess, as a celebrity if you´re much too openhearted and frank about your lovelife on the microbloggs. That´s a pity of course, it sucks if you ask me, but I´m in my strongest belief it just couldn´t have come as a surprise to this guy, he´s not like a twenty-year-old teenage star, he´s an experienced musician in his early forties. Maybe, I just say maybe, he didn´t think it through before he started it, maybe, just maybe, he should have stuck to the former plan, thinking things through before making a statement, thus keeping his integrity.

hot chill!

It´s very hot in this, my country of birth, right now, and it´s nice, it feels I am able to relax and slow down, deep inside. There isn´t actually anything else to do, but to surrender and devote myself to the hot air. I need to accumulate heat, to wear when winterseason arrives trying to chill me down ... and it does anyway, every f*****g year since so many years back I can recall.

NiN playing Burn in Arvika, Sweden tonight. I follow on Twitter!

Hang over

Ok, today´s Trending Topic on Twitter, apart from #iranelection, Mousavi, Tehran, Apple ..., "Do Not Use Twitter".

e.g. : "Do Not Use Twitter if you think it´s kind of a joke, you have to know it´s kind of a joke", "D.N.U.T when drunk", "D.N.U.T. when sober! :-)", "D.N.U.T if you don´t follow me.", "D.N.U.T. before washing hands.", "D.N.U.T on a romantic dinner.", "D.N.U.T. to replace coffee: not enough caffeine.", "D.N.U.T if you are Batman, Robin needs his tights back." ... and so on.

Seems the Twitterers have the big hangover-day, just like the Swedish right now!! ... the day after Midsommers Eve.

... and thick clouds are gathering around, and there´s talk about lightning storms, wow. But me I´m onn Twitter and daughter just got addicted to Matrix. Well, alright for a hangover day.

Macchiato

I´ve neglected this my english thinking, as it looks, but the truth is I actually read a lot, Ian McEwan is an author I´ve recently discovered ... and I´m a lot on twitter, and that´s not an easy task language wise I can tell you that. People use all kinds of abbrevations and everyday words that I´ve never heard of. It´s an interesting source though, to find out about things and people, learn how they react on newsflashs and so on, and there´s a certain charm in being one of the first persons to know ...

Well today I learned something new in real life ... a had a new kind of coffee-drink, the Espresso Macchiato. I´m so glad I don´t have to say it out loud here because I´ve no idea how, I think though I´ve got the right spelling. It was good by the way, I really enjoyed it, strong, bitter and a little foamed milk on the top. The cup I had wasn´t as good looking as the one on the pic, but it was certainly the proper thing to consume at the moment, in the shade by a big linden tree just next to the students home by the university ... and it was Friday at lunchtime, in the opening of the last weekend in the month of May.

spring outburst

The day before May Day wasn´t a very nice day, cold, windy and an unconcentrated crowd in the park. We ate candy to drive out time, child on the swing taking photo and me in an outburst. Then they lit the bonfire ... and things became groovy. :-)
